An amazing aerial performer, Frances Aitken (a past performer with Unfit State Circus; touring internationally) is joining the young mothers evoking Baby’s journey to a backdrop of magical projected image accompanied by 5 especially commissioned commercial songs (Baby’s Voice). She will be using different equipment whilst performing on a (fully insured) touring aerial rig. The aim is to stimulate big discussion amongst 12 – 14 year olds for some time to come.

The half -day Hey Baby-Baby!’ project will be free (once) to all Weymouth & Portland Secondary Schools as part of this pilot project. The project will be supported by professionals working in the field of sexual health and SRE.

The preview pilot performance for teachers, heads of departments, head teachers and health practitioners on Wednesday 7th January was held at St Paul’s Church by kind permission of Father Richards; this was a big success, with an excellent attendance.

The evaluation has proved Hey Baby-Baby’s worth with comments such as from Sue Carey Housing Advice WPBC: ‘a very honest, educational, entertaining and professional production; the girls (teenage mothers) were very honest and articulate... they did not make light of their situations; the tales the girls are relating takes away the glamour of pregnancy and child-birth; showing that having a baby is not the way out. The boys learn they play a part and should take (equal) responsibility for contraception.’
